James gave the nurse a flat look when she asked him to be careful while sitting on the medical bed. His nostrils flared somewhat as he took in the scent of the hospital, he hated the smell. He hated everything about hospitals, the smell, the lights, the uncomfortable beds with the crunchy sterile sheets. He wouldn't have even came if Louis hadn't made such a big deal out of his wound, all he had to do was wrap it up and clean it every now and again and it would heal. She had made him take his boots off, and strip his top half.. so there he was, sitting on top of the uncomfortable medical bed in nothing but his black beater, holding a now clean rag to his bleeding forearm. He felt like a kid again, sitting and waiting to get shots. Sighing through his nose, the sheriff's eyes never left the nurse as she bustled about the small closed off area they could call a room, even though the areas were pretty much divided by a thick curtain while she got some basic things ready. "Mr.Stone, keep the pressure on that please." Her voice was stern, but it also held a bit of fake sweetness to it. All James could do was smirk, and he looked down to see his blood had dripped onto the crisp white sheets. He didn't really feel sorry, he was sure they'd had much more blood on these things anyway. James grimaced slightly when the nurse came over and pressed his hand down harder on the rag. "I'm serious Sheriff." She was close enough that James could see the bags under her eyes, god knows the hours she worked, things seemed to always be hectic around here. SHe moved around a bit more and then finally said to him, "The Doctor will be right in, I would clean the wound myself but I have several other things to do, and I haven't learned how to stitch properly just yet." She said this last statement, gave him a weak smile and then left, the curtain flapping behind her.
James grunted and then decided since the Doctor would most likely take his or her time getting here, he might as well try to get comfortable. Leaning against the raised back of the bed, the sheriff cleared his throat and took the rag off once more to look at his wound. He was on duty and trying to help an injured man who's dog had lost it's marbles and attacked him when the damn thing turned on him too. The man was far worse off than he had been, but the dog had lunged at him, got a good hold of his forearm and in Jame's panicked state he ripped the dog away, which caused the tearing in his arm to get worse. By the time back up was there, the man was bleeding severely and the Sheriff was doing his best to keep the man calm. A muffled yell came from a few rooms down and he knew it was the man he'd tried to help. James had shot the dog when he was able to get his gun out, the thing was still probably lying dead out front of the man's house. He made a mental note to discard of it before the man was able to return back home, and James assumed he would get out before him anyway.
His officers offered for him to go to the hospital, but honestly James made his way back to the house when he ran into Louis, who freaked out about the wound. He walked his uncle all the way to the hospital and even went so far as to make sure he actually admitted himself before he carried on with his work, Lou knew how much Uncle James hated the doctors. James shut his eyes at the thought and just waited for the Doctor to come strolling in....

SO THEY DUG YOUR GRAVE -----------------------------------------------------------------Eden let out a sigh, chewing on her bottom lip as she peered down at her chart. With limited resources, the Henley Falls hospital was forced to function rather differently than the way hospitals had before the outbreak. They made it work though, they had to.
"Sheriff stone?" Eden said, pulling back the curtain and entering the enclosure. She closed the curtain once more to offer them more privacy while she stitched him up. Doctor Eden Kennedy was a good looking woman, her long, wavy brown hair was down and reached down her back like a waterfall. Whatever she was wearing was covered up by her white lab coat. "I don't know if you remember me. Doctor Eden Kennedy, I'll be stitching you up and getting you out of here."
Eden offered him a nice smile, setting down her clip board she sat down on her wheely stool. It was hard not to know who the sheriff of Henley Falls was when you lived in Henley Falls. He ran the show. Simply put, he was everywhere. Pulling on her gloves, she gently pulled his hand away from his wound. "How did this happen?" she asked him, both professionally and for sake of conversation.
"This might sting," she said, starting to clean his wound as gently, but as thoroughly as possible. Her proximity was close and she could smell the outdoors and cigarette smoke on him. -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

James ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek when he heard the voice of someone walking in. Great, now the fun would begin. He honestly couldn't remember everyone in town and he honestly didn't look up right away when the female doctor said his name. He grunted in response and just loosened his hold on his wound for a moment before pressing back down on it before more blood spilled on the pretty white sheets. It took the flash of movement for the cop to look up, and this was after she introduced herself and his jaw just about hit the floor when he finally did raise his eyes. He didn't recognize the name, but he most certainly recognized the face and build of the woman standing in front of him. She wasn't really that hard to forget. Viv, Lou and himself had been one of the firsts to find Henley Falls, that along with a handful of other groups. She was the first and technically only real doctor in town. He remember the day she'd shown up and how much of a relief she had been to many of the injured and sick that gathered behind the gates. Maybe it was because he was under so much stress over those few weeks when he saw her around a lot, but he hadn't noticed before yet how attractive she really was, and this fact pretty much blew him away now that she was standing a few feet away from him. After scraping his jaw up off the floor he cleared his throat and remembered she had mentioned stitching. This brought him back down to reality and disregarded any accidental sexual desires to be thrown out of his brain for the time being. He was going to kill Louis when he got home, or at least smack him with his good arm when he got back.
His icy blue eyes left her face to watch her gloved hands remove his hand, she was gentle, something that he was expecting. He watched almost as curiously as she was when she lifted the rag. "Dog." He said almost gruffly. His brows knit for a moment and he looked away, following her free hand as it went to the supplies on the tray. She came closer to him than he thought, and the man almost tensed up, but then realized she was holding his arm and would feel him tense beneath her grip. He took a sharp in take of breath when the cool liquid touched his bleeding arm, it was more shocking than hurtful but she was quick with it all, something he could be glad for.
He did his best not to look at her, but he found his eyes returning to her face. He studied her in increments, watching her face as she concentrated on cleaning his wound without hurting him too much. She generally cared for the patient... or at least it seemed that way. She just looked so much softer than he was, they almost clashed just sitting next to each other....

She could feel his muscles tense as she gripped his arms. "I see you're a man of many words, sheriff," she teased after all he said was the word "dog." Setting the bloody gauze down on a tray she wheeled up beside her, Eden grabbed a needle that was sitting beside it. The sheriff was lucky that a shipment of supplies had just come in, otherwise there wouldn't have been anything to numb his arm. The last time Eden had to stitch someone up without anesthesia, she had to bring in a few others to pin him down so that he wouldn't punch her.
"You might feel a pinch..." she said, sticking him as gently as she could and pushing the end of the needle until it was empty of the liquid completely. Throwing the needle and bloody gauze away, she placed another piece over his cut and held it there. Taking his other hand, she placed it over the gauze so that he would hold it in place for a few minutes while they waited for the area around his cut to go numb.
"It's going to take a few minutes for the area to go numb, then I can stitch you up..." While they waited, Eden proceeded to prepare the needle to stitch with. "That must have been some dog that bit you sheriff," she said. The size of the wound wasn't exactly small... so it couldn't have been from a chihuahua. When she was done preparing the needle, she approached James once more and pulled his hand away from his arm. "Can you feel that?" she asked, poking him close to his cut, but not too close. -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

James finally have her a halfhearted smile as she teased him. So it was true, that was something he couldn't help. He was the type of person to speak as few words as possible to make sure he got to the point as quick as possible. How little words he used represented how he was as a person, he didn't want to side track around things, he was a one and done sort of guy. He watched the needle with fluid in it enter her grasp and he instantly knew what it was. He wasn't going to announce that he was happy the shipment came, he didn't want to seem weak. Though he wasn't really looking forward to the constant pricking of the needle and the pull on his already tender wound as she closed it. He watched the needle go in and empty it's contents and then he looked up to watch her for a few seconds, even as she took his rough hand in her's and placed it a top of the gauze. So he might have been visibly interested in her, she either ignoring him or hiding the fact that she knew he was interested. She must have gotten those looks a lot. The numbness started almost too quickly and he flex his hand, opening and closes it as she spoke to him. He didn't like the feeling and hoped it wouldn't stay there too long after she was done stitching him. The feeling went from his wound and all the way down to his fingers, of course it was his good hand... so he couldn't punch Louis when he got home.
His eyes wondered from the needle to her face, though he still couldn't get her to look at him. "Some stupid mutt... it looked smaller from farther away..." He admitted. The Sheriff didn't hesitate charging the dog from the distance he was at, but when the thing turned on him and got closer, James had regretted it immediately. His blue eyes followed the needle as she came toward him, removing his own hand once more. He was distracted by the softness of her hand that he paused before looking at her, "Feel what?" Then he looked down to see her finger poking him. "Oh.. I think its working..." James smirked slightly and then flex his hand again, obviously uncomfortable with not being able to feel his arm.

SO THEY DUG YOUR GRAVE -----------------------------------------------------------------Satisfied by the fact that he hadn't felt her poke him with her finger(wtf did you thik she poked him with???), Eden sat back down and pulled herself and her wheely stool closer to him. "Just hold still, sheriff. The last thing I want is for one of us to lose an eye," her smile became more pronounced. James was certainly a charming man, but Eden always made a point of keeping her love life separate from her work life. The last thing she needed was another Michael.
"You're going to feel some tugging...." Looking up at him for a moment, she was a little startled to see his eyes on her. They were so shockingly blue. As crimson started to creep across her face, Eden quickly peered back down and started to stitch his arm up. "Well now you have a story to impress the ladies with, sheriff. If you choose to tell them that you wrestled a bear, I won't say anything, I promise."
The smile that crossed Eden's face was a pretty one. "I'm afraid it's a bit too small to tell people that you fought off a shark." It didn't take too long for Eden to finish up and tie off the end. Cutting off the extra bit, she cleaned up a little and threw out her latex gloves before washing her hands.
"Try not to wrestle any more dogs now, sheriff, and don't get those stitches wet. I might not be as nice if I have to stitch that wound up again, so be careful, please. You can come back here in a little over a week to get them removed... but if you're anything like I suspect yo to be, I have a feeling you'll be taking them out yourself... Do you have any questions?" Arching a slim brow, Eden looked back up to James, her green eyes meeting his blue ones.((Come on man, ask her out or somethingggg)) -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

((OOC: Sooo I defiantly though she poked him with the needle, I was like WTF? Lol, fixed it))
James arched a brow but otherwise kept his emotions off his face while she spoke. He watched quietly while she closed up his wound, the tugging set at an almost rhythmic pace. Every now and then he could look up at her to once again watch that face of her's while she concentrated the stitch work. He may not have been in a steady relationship with any woman before but he knew them well. Just by the way she worked on his arm made him think about taking her out somewhere just so he can get to know the rest of her. Doctor Kennedy without the professional air about her. The thought made him shiver.
He had finally caught her gaze when she looked up and he felt his insides flare up when he saw the red rising in her cheeks. He knew about his eyes and what damage they could do to woman, it didn't matter how professional those women were, his look could at least send them away with butterflies in they're stomach. He smirked at what she said, and then looked down to watch his arm again, "I'm pretty sure half the town saw what happened, but it may fool a woman who's had a little too much to drink." He said with a set smirk.
When she mentioned shark, James let a small smile creep onto his face. If it had been a shark he wouldn't have an arm to stitch. His eyes jumped up to follow her as she moved to clean up, he was almost wishing his wound had been worse. As she went over the instructions he could honestly admit he hadn't been listening to a single word she was saying. Instead he was frantically coming up with an idea on how to ask her to come out on a date with him, all the while watching her body as best he could under her white coat. Before he looked like an idiot, she pretty much set herself up with the last question she asked.
A devilish look crossed his face as he gazed directly into her eyes. "Yes, actually..." he said, sliding off the stupid hospital bed and grabbing his shirt. He kept his eyes glued to her and only broke contact to slip the black shirt back over his head, minding his wounded arm as he did so. "I was thinking as a thank you for saving my life.." he said sarcastically as he bent down to grab his belt with his gun holstered and cuffs clipped to (that he refused to leave at the front lobby of the make shift hospital) "That i could cook you dinner. I have my own little supply of booz and such. That so you won't even notice my terrible cooking." He said this with utter confidence. His tone was smooth and almost cunning as he continued to stare at her as if he could make her squirm with his look while he looped his belt...

SO THEY DUG YOUR GRAVE -----------------------------------------------------------------Holding her clip board in both hands, Eden watched as her patient slipped his shirt on. Though she attempted to keep her expression as impassive as possible, Eden had difficulty even keeping eye contact as the sheriff buckled his belt around his waist. "I hardly think that I saved your life, sheriff," she said, doing her best to hold on to her professional composure. He was handsome... he was the sheriff... In all honesty, Eden had attempted to avoid getting too serious with a man since her divorce.
She was silent for a moment, sincerely debating over what to say. He was so confident of himself. "It doesn't seem very professional...." The last thing she wanted was to wind up with another Michael. Then again, she had to remind herself that not all men were like her ex husband. It wouldn't hurt to give the man a chance and give herself another. But I suppose I could make a house call... to check up on those stitches..."
A small smile crossed Eden's face and she tucked her pen behind one of her ears. "I'm done here around seven tonight..." With an arch of one of her slender brows and a departing smile, Eden left James to see himself out while she tended to other patients. The butterflies in her stomach didn't seem to be going away anytime soon. -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

James watched her calmly, his mouth set in a fine line while she seemed to be taken a back by his offer. Professional? Who is professional every second of the day? Even the pro's had to sit back and relax and actually live some what of a normal life. Especially now that life was uncertain and you never really knew if you would make it to the next day. Nothing about this had to be serious, and he hoped she knew it. He wasn't looking for anything serious, more of like a fun night out... aside from the fact that they were stuck in a town with nothing to do, he was sure he'd be able to figure something out. It wasn't until she spoke again did he allowed the smile to float back onto his face. "Seven it is." he cooed slightly as she trailed past him. His eyes followed her slim body as she slid out of the room to leave him drooling over his own thoughts. -Time Skip- The kitchen in the residential areas were grade A(LOL), in fact the kitchen he now had was bigger than the one he had before the virus had broken out. The house the Sheriff lived in was quiet, for the time being. He had ordered everyone out for most of the night, this including his own nephew and Viv. He was very gruff about the details, but the both of them left giggling like school girls, he was positive he heard Louis taunting him about getting a piece of something, either way he was just glad to have them gone. He ran around like an idiot, straightening up mostly and trying to make the house smell some what decent. Viv was the only girl, but somehow managed to keep the place nice and smelling good so James didn't have to do much. It wasn't until he dimmed the lights in the kitchen and lit some candles did he realize none of this was his style, he must have been more than desperate to get her to bed with him than he realized. With a slight twitch, the sheriff jolted back to present time. He had been thinking about why he had gotten things so well prepared as he absentmindedly stirred the green beans around in the frying pan. One of the almonds in the pan popped and he jumped, hearing a slight laugh from behind him. "I can't believe your laughing at the injured man." He said with a smile as he turned to Eden. He had picked her up from the hospital and they well... walked back to the house. He had showered and tried to avoid getting the stitches too wet, he should have covered them but decided against it. He didn't wear anything too nice since they were eating dinner in his own house and well... he didn't own anything nice anymore ever since coming to Henley. He was wearing an olive green tighter fitting v-neck with dark blue jeans and he was in just socks after coming into the house. James may not seem like a talkative man on the job, but he knew how to be at ease and put someone else at ease quickly. They had been at the house for almost an hour now and the conversation was smooth and somewhat flirtatious while he did his best to prepare chicken, and some side dishes. They had been drinking whatever alcohol James had brought down, which was several different things since he didn't exactly know what the woman liked. They were the most random assortment of things since it was just scavengers bringing it back. The Sheriff pick and chose which ones over the past months, enough to build up a variety. He used to drink a lot before the virus had broken out, even being head of the police department he drank more than he probably should... but now... well now he just didn't have the time. So to get down some good whiskey sent his whole body shivering with a now warming tingle in his stomach and throat that only made him open up more. He had several burners on at once on the stove as he tried to keep up with it all, and the chicken smelled slightly crispy in the oven. It wasn't until he tried to flip the green beans pancake style and spilling a quarter of them onto the stove top did he slam the pan down and start laughing. It was a belly laugh, one that he hadn't let out in a long time. "I hope your drinking your taste buds away.." He said rather shyly, rubbing the back of his neck and sighing....

SO THEY DUG YOUR GRAVE -----------------------------------------------------------------Eden hadn't felt so light-hearted in what seemed like forever. She was tingling from head to toe, feel tipsy. It was another sensation that she hadn't felt in ages. A smile lit up the woman's face, her face somewhat flushed. She wore a pair of jeans, tucked into a pair of boots that came up to her knees. With her hair down and wavy, she wore a long-sleeved purple shirt, a silver necklace dangling over her chest. James was certainly a charmer.
"Here," she said, her laughter fading away as she set her wine glass down. Whiskey wasn't exactly Eden's favorite thing in the world. Taking the spatula from James, she bumped him out of her way with her hip as she mixed the green beans around in the pan before pulling the chicken out of the oven before it was destroyed. "I think you've already drank your tastebuds away," she said to James with a humorous smile. Throwing a bit of this and a bit of that into the dishes, Eden had the kitchen smelling like heaven in just a matter of moments. She even threw together a bit of a sauce to make up for whatever he did to the chicken.
"Taste," she said, gently blowing on the bit of sauce she had scooped out on a wooden spoon for him. Holding it up for him, she couldn't help but get trapped in those blue eyes of his yet again. -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

James let the spatula slip from his grasp and he side stepped when she bumped him out of the way. He let out a small chuckle and then arched a brow while he watched her fly around the kitchen like she'd done it a lot before. He on the other hand, well... it was only him and Louis before, and Lou wasn't picky when it came to food. When James had been home instead of at the office he usually under cooked or over cooked something, everything was bland and very plain, but that was why (At least in his opinion) why Louis had gone off to culinary school. He had a hard time keeping up with her, so he backed away and lifted the wine glass she had. He swirled it around and smelled it before he brought it to his lips to taste it. He came back over to her with her wine glass in hand and he bent down to taste the sauce she made. He was instantly happy with it and with her wine glass in hand he gazed at her, "You should probably just stick around." he said this with a wink and handed her glass back to her. She was too perfect for him, it was almost sad in a way. James wandered over to the other side of the kitchen to get the table set, getting more and more distracted thinking about the woman in his kitchen.
Once the table was set, his gaze rose to find Eden's back to his while she finished up the dinner they had both made. He watched her frame for a moment or two before coming toward her quietly. James didn't seem like a gentle man, but he also didn't seem like a charmer. He wrapped his arm around her midsection and pressed his chest to her back. Whether or not it was too intimate for her yet or not, he didn't care. He hardly knew this woman but he felt.. at home with her. He watched her stir the sauce and he let out a low grunt, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Thank you." he said this simply, thanking her for whatever she wanted to think he was thanking her for. Planting a kiss on the side of her neck, he caught her scent mixed with the homey food she was making and he felt warmer than he had been in years....
The food was saved just in time, and he honestly ate more than he would when Louis made food. Whether it was because Louis always made food for all of the people that lived in the house and there really wasn't much, or the fact that James wanted to show Eden that she was a better cook than he could have hoped for, by the time he was done... he was more drunk off the atmosphere than the whiskey he had been drinking. The Sheriff opened up and talked to her, talking just about anything with her. He didn't want to admit anything but he was falling fast for the woman.

"I'll leave my job at the hospital to be your personal chef..." She smiled teasingly in his direction and got back to cooking as he set the table for them. A shock ran over her entire body as James wrapped an arm around her midsection. It was, indeed, entirely too soon... but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy it.
The spot on her neck, where he kissed her, tingled even after his lips left her skin. "Anything for you, Sheriff Stone..." she said, more gently than she had intended. Face flushed, she turned off the burners and the oven before turning back to him. Their bodies were close together and she found herself looking up at him. Compared to her, he was so tall and muscular. It was almost intimidating. As much as she hated to admit it, the intimidation factor only turned her on more.
For a moment, she was sure that one of them would lean in and press their lips together in what she was almost positive would be the most pleasurable and passionate kiss... but then she remembered the food. "We should eat before you wast away to nothing, James..." Even the feel of his name on her tongue felt good. Carrying some of the food over to the table, she dished it out onto their plates... ((Do you want to do a time skip to them just like... attacking each other? Rawr. Maybe they shouldn't have sex yet though. He felt her tense up against him as he slammed her against the cold wall in his bedroom. Her legs were wrapped tightly around his waist while his hands moved restlessly along her body. He locked lips with her and continued to kiss her intensely while pressing his body firmly against her's. He could feel her back arch and he let go of her lips to bit her neck and laugh, "Wall a little cold? He asked while driving his lips against every inch of her exposed skin. He couldn't really remember just how they ended up here, it didn't matter though, all he was focused on was her anyway. She tasted like heaven and he honestly couldn't get enough of her. He'd been with women before where he hardly even touched them, other than the parts needed to get the job done, but Eden... she was addictive for whatever reason. He wanted to drag this out.
He had thought putting an arm around her midsection may have been to early, but this... well he could live with this any day. He found her lips again and wouldn't let go other than to breath. Pulling her away from the wall he gripped her harder and then tossed her onto his bed, his blue eyes looking quite different than they had early. His chest heaved slightly and then an instant later a huge smile whipped across his face. "Sorry, I get a little carried away." He said, and before she had a chance to response he came after her.

Every touch caused her skin to tingle and she found herself clinging to James so passionately, it was as if her life depended on it. Her heart pounded crazily and, as he pulled his lips from hers to kiss the rest of her body, her chest heaved and her head spun a little. The wall as indeed cold against her shirtless back in contrast to his warm chest against hers.
He pulled her away from the wall and she squealed girlishly as he threw her onto the bed. Eden's smile was breathless and devilish one at that as she looked up at him. "I don't mind at all..." she said before her practically attacked her. Rolling around with him on the bed, she enjoyed every second of it, anticipating what was to come.
And then... frantic banging on the door downstairs. Sitting bolt upright, gasping for air, she ran a hand through her now messy hair and pulled the sheet over her bare chest. Looking at James, she waited to see what he would do when the pounding on the door continued. It was obviously urgent, but Eden was rather disappointed by the interruption. -----------------------------------------------------------------[/style] |

James' head shot up too when he heard the door. His face quickly turned annoyed now, even though the situation could be serious. It was times like these that he wished he wasn't the only trusted authority in the haven. His icy blue eyes shot over to Eden and he frowned. "Stay here." This was a short cut and almost harsh tone. He never meant to sound rude, but he quickly got into police mode when something was about to happen. He slipped back out from between the sheets, pulled some clothing back on and made his way down the steps, wheeling around the corner and then toward the front door where the flurrying of knocking started again. "Hang on!" The sheriff shouted as he reached the door handle. Pulling the door open he quickly smelled smoke. His blue eyes widened slightly and despite only having a wife beater on he opened the door wider to stare at the man on his door step. "Can I get an explanation?" The man started to talk a split second after the Sheriff spoke. A fire had broken out in one of the houses and was getting pretty bad. Henley falls lacked a fire department... well they had one but without it's members and the trucks wasted too much fuel to drive around. The man wasted no time and ran off calling to a few other men who went running too. James watched him for a second or two and then cursed under his breath before going back inside, slamming the door behind him.
He jogged up the steps and was in his room within the next second, grabbing his coat and shoving his boots on. "A town house is on fire. I need to get out there and try to fix this before the whole town gets burned to the ground." He sighed when he looked back toward her, his blue eyes almost holding a pleading look. He really didn't want to go and leave what he could be doing behind. The thought of it only made his anger stir up, so he pushed his thoughts away and gave her one last longing look before slipping out of his bedroom and out into the chill.
He was one of the few men who had non fuel using transportation. The home he chose had a stable in the back. It had been run down, but would house animals. The horse he bartered off someone was well worth it, now instead of wasting energy and time getting to the fire from the spot in town he was in, he just rode there without wasting fuel.
He'd only just gotten the animal a few weeks ago, so his was all new to him. In Philly he'd been a mounted cop for a few months, but that was it with his experience with horses. So by the time the horse was galloping down the old road, the smoke had only gotten worse. Out of all the things he should have been thinking about, the cop's mind rested on Eden and what she had to be doing right now. Surely between the two of them they're work was plenty, and would keep them busy through the night.
