[style=border-bottom: 5px solid #38574e; font-style: italic;] that morning elizza was more than happy to get out of the living space she shared. she found herself wanting to be outside more than in. maybe it was because she was used to it now, maybe she even felt claustrophobic being inside all the time. whatever it was, elizza couldn't exactly pinpoint her own reasoning for it. in fact, she really didn't give a damn. who wouldn't want to be outdoors? it was a question that seemed simple. nobody wanted to see what had become of the world, staying inside gave that extra sense of normality. she didn't want that. elizza was one to escape reality. it was the only way she could have a sense of sanity. now that didn't sound to sane, but it was true and seemed to fit just right in their world now. the female hunter began walking down one of the streets, looking around at the busy people tending their chores, or even mingling around a bit. she didn't have a destination. unintentionally, she sauntered over to the gates in no need of anything at the moment. she would be working that day, but not at the moment. elizza's eyes took in her familiar surroundings a bit before they searched for anyone else around the gates. the little space, just big enough for someone to slip in and out of. she moved outside of the gates and let out a deep breath. her eyes were narrowed now as the sun set a light tint to the ground. it wasn't easy for elizza to get anything off her mind. she thought of her parents. she was always unsure about them - how she treated them for so long and here she was worrying where they were or even if they were alive. it almost made her sick thinking about it. she was guilty and bothered by the fact that she was worried what they thought of her now. like she was worried for herself and not so much if they were okay or not. she really did care for them and she would love to admit it to herself. there was a reason they were the first she tried to reach. but they didn't know that. the blonde bit her lip, staring at the ground before putting her hair up in a messy ponytail. she shook her head and went back to the inside of the gate. she put her hands on the fence and rested her head on it, looking out at everything for a moment. trying her hardest to clear her busy mind. tagged: open, outfit *, words: 492, notes: bleh ^-^

"See anything on the perimeter I should know about? You know, stupid looking undead, fully stocked refrigerators, cures to the disease? Anything?"
"Sorry to disappoint, but unless you like grass, trees, and water, there isn't much here to report in. Looks like you'll be relying on yourself to make today's news interesting, Madaline."
"Damnit, alright. Keep me posted if you see or hear anything else. There's absolutely nothing going on. Looks like everyone gets an extra hour of music. Alright Kai, Mad Cat out."
Kaiden smiled as he placed his radio back into its place on his belt. It seemed that their resident radio woman had been asking him more and more often for more news stories to tell for her program. It amused him to know end how annoyed she got when he reported back that nothing of note had happened. It wasn't his fault that nothing noteworthy had been going on in the area. Okay, it was partially his fault, just like it was the fault of every other member of the town's law enforcement crew. Every single thing of note in the area was either killed or recovered the moment it was spotted. It was simple really, even if it got in the way of 'Mad Cat's' little news program.
Ah well.
He had to admit though, he was beginning to share her disappointment... if only just a little. While he was glad nothing bad had happened recently, Kaiden couldn't help but wish for just a little bit of action. Nothing major, maybe a small herd of undead passing by instead of one or two like usual. Something to help pass the time. Breaking up arguments between community members and scolding children for sneaking extra rations just got boring after awhile.
Kaiden sighed. He really should be thankful that things were so quiet. That was a really, really good thing.
Looking about, Kaiden found himself heading in the direction of the gates. The twin barriers which separated the hordes of infected beyond from the community within had long since been one of his more favorite spots to simply go and hang around while off-duty. Something about being so close to the outside just made it easier to think. Or something like that. Kaiden really couldn't say why he enjoyed being around the gate. Maybe it had to do with being close to the exit. Lord knew Kaiden had problems without a visible exit in sight, ever since Vermont.
He stayed there, leaning against the fences for awhile, before he realized that someone else was relatively nearby. Kaiden's attention turned away from the outside, to where a blonde woman seemed to be doing pretty much exactly what he himself was; gazing out beyond the fences. The ex-soldier smiled. Nowadays, he found himself noticing more and more people at the fence line, looking out at the world beyond, wishing they could run through it like they used to. Trying to clear their head of all the crazy bullshit which seemed to be a common thing in everyone's mind. Or, just looking at things because they were bored, like Kai.
With a sigh, Kaiden pushed himself away from the fence, and walked along it towards where the woman stood. He didn't recognize her right away, something which Kaiden found annoying. He'd been a part of the community since August, and he still wasn't able to place every face with a name. Sure, it hadn't been a long time, but he once prided himself on being able to remember everyone, even if they were from a meeting that lasted just a few moments.
Wait, her name's Holloway. Something Holloway. Right?
Something like that.
He stopped a few feet away, and leaned back against the fence once more, crossing his arms as he did so. "You doing alright, ma'am?" he asked, glancing over at the woman with a slight smile.
(Notes: Sorry if its a bit meh. First post with a character for me always seems to turn out that way.)

[style=border-bottom: 5px solid #38574e; font-style: italic;] elizza got easily caught up in her thoughts. sometimes she wished she could have some peace of mind for once, a time when she was worrying or pondering anything. if you knew one to dwell on the past it was elizza. although it seems as if she's gone on with everything and begun to live in segments or moments, taking one step at a time. she'd like to think that's how she worked, but her mind was the complete opposite. she looked outside the gate for anything, something at least. was she hoping something was out there? and what exactly? well at the moment she wasn't too sure herself. hunting kept her busy and kept the community safe. it was a win win. elizza could very well be off on her own, gathering supplies and traveling non-stop. it was what she loved to do nowadays. but when she came upon henley, she couldn't bare let the opportunity pass. a voice awoke her from her thoughts, and she was relieved by that. elizza looked to the source to see a man. a man she had seen before, however there was no recognition coming to her. she bit her lip as she tried to remember. one thing for sure she knew he worked with the law enforcement around there, but what was his name... "i'm doing just fine, thank you," she said with a charming smile. "well as fine as i can be right now." she studied the man a bit more. inshabel! that was it. elizza's confidence rose now that she knew who this man was. "inshabel, am i right?" she asked, moving off the gate to stand firmly on her feet. she crossed her arms and looked back through the holes of the fence. biting her lip she stated, "it's been pretty dead out there huh?" it's been pretty dead out there, besides the zombies, which was good. in fact that was great. tagged: kaiden, outfit *, words: 330, notes: it's all good. :3

"Glad to hear it.
Kaiden chuckled at her mention of 'as fine as she could be.' It was pretty difficult to come as close to the pre-outbreak definition of 'fine' nowadays. At this point, he was fairly certain that 'being alright' meant you could be horribly be depressed, so long as you knew full well you didn't have to worry about the undead eating your face while you slept. There was so much to complain about, but when everyone had those same complaints, just knowing you were somewhat safe made everything better. At least, that's what he thought.
He nodded when she inquired about his name. "Yeah, that's right. Kaiden Inshabel." It was good to know people recognized him, even if it was after a bit of thought. Having only been in the community for a short time, Kai hadn't really gotten the chance to really socialize with all the people he would like to, and so his little group of friends was rather small, consisting mostly of the survivors he had led here, as well as most of the police guys and then the occasional civilian. One of these days, he was going to have to ask to take shifts that didn't line up with community gatherings, just so he could actually socialize some more.
Friends were a commodity these days, and he could use all the support he could find.
Turning a bit so he could look out past the fence line, Kaiden couldn't help but smile. "Pretty much. I haven't seen much out there these days. Seems like most of the infected packed up and went home." He laughed. If only that were the case. It would make everything so very much easier. No, it was probably something completely different. As for what... that was anybody's guess.
"Its probably just because of the hunters. I doubt many of the corpses are going to travel all the way out here to get us, since we're far enough from the city, so every time the hunters clear out a good portion of the things around us, they get less and less backup. Who know though, really." He glanced over at the woman, a thoughtful look on his face. "You're with the hunter teams, right?

[style=border-bottom: 5px solid #38574e; font-style: italic;] "ah, kaiden," the blonde mused with a nod, almost as if she was storing the name and face in her memory. "okay." elizza didn't mention her own name, she didn't find it necessary ever really, well not nowadays. although that is she was always one to keep her name a mystery until someone actually put some interest in it. she wasn't going to waste her own time going out of the way to talk about herself or introduce herself. it wasn't necessary. nonetheless a few friendly faces made everything all the worthwhile. since she lost everyone she knew from her past, it was nice. almost like a fresh start in a fucked up world, not like it was much difference than before. elizza scoffed, "they tired of us already?" she shook her head, a small smile stained on her lips. if only. she had been anticipating a horde, as stragglers seemed to be coming few at a time, threatening henley falls. being stubborn as she is, that was her conclusion. that the zombies were migrating, going someplace near. the blonde listened, seeing the sense in what he was saying. being a hunter she knew where the threats were around the perimeter. they seemed to be coming little by little, which meant there had to be more of them further out. so in a way the zombies were backed up. elizza looked to kaiden and nodded once, "mm-hm." she paused before uncrossing her arms and stating, "they are backed up enough that it's probably best not to go as far as the city. but they're coming, little by little making their way just to the woods up there. but you're right, we can never be too sure." it wasn't very often they got hordes, after when things seemed to die down - when everyone had the slightest light of hope. it was almost like a cycle now, but it was also a different mission every time. elizza looked out again through the gate before becoming tired of the view for now. she then found herself leaning against the gate now, facing the community she was a part of. "i can't imagine not getting out of here every once in a while." yes, she was grateful and enjoyed it, but she was one for change. it kept her busy, being out there where her mind didn't take over. tagged: kaiden, outfit *, words: 394, notes: c:
