Athena Marie Gordan
The crisp winter air blew through her hair as Athena let out a low whistle. squinting her eyes against the sun she spotted the familiar figure making it's way toward her the site almost brought a smile to her face. The mare seemed just as happy as ever to see her. For a second she found herself wishing she could be as ignorant as her mare, unaware of the dangers in this world. I'm sure she would realize if you left her the voice in her head said as the mares head met the hand she held up. and you know the same is true for you added the voice.
Snapping the lead rope she had in her other hand onto the halter Athena led her friend to the small barn and allowed Phoenix to ground tie as she went to get her tack. She knew she has a hundred and one things to do today, including supply center to pick up a new gun and more arrows. And she needed to head to the rations center to get more grain for Phoenix. But somehow, all that could wait, cause this morning, she needed a break to just be her for an hour or two.
Her mind started to wonder as she started to tack up her horse; It was amazing that she had been here for half a year already. She thought of the place she now called home, one of the smallest houses in the town, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Plus the barn she and some of the other townspeople built. It was a small barn, with only one stall a small room for tack storage, and another small room where weapons were held. It wasn't anything like the house she and her family had shared, but it did it's job.
As she finished tightening the back cinch she ran into the weapons room to grab her bow and quiver. Not the most practical weapon with the pray she was hunting, but it was her favorite, and the one she was best with. Besides, she wasn't expecting to have to take down anything now...it was just to be safe. As she made her way back to the mare, she slipped the bridle on and lead her out of the barn. The winter air sent a chill down her spine as she mounted. She didn't like how cold it was, it meant that the people in the haven would have to work harder to keep warm. But that was to be thought about another time Now, she had a horse to exercise, and that was that.
