THE APPEARANCE
Casey is 5'11, built long and lean and muscular, kind of like a swimmer or runner. He has a high metabolism and natural corded muscle tone. Long lithe limbs, broad shoulders. His hands are long-fingered and nimble.
Casey's hair is a dark brown-blonde color, short and artfully messy. Thick and silky and usually tousled. His eyes are a light blue-green color, soft and gentle and kind. They can look more blue or more green, depending on what he's wearing. They are topped in thick, expressive eyebrows. There is a smattering of freckles across the tops of his high cheekbones and the bridge of his nose.
He used to be quite a stylish fellow, before the outbreak. Now, he's found that things like the cut and color of his clothes don't matter as much as they used to. He's a jeans and t-shirts kind of guy, now. Whatever is practical for the situation, and shoes that are good for running.
THE PERSONALITY
Casey has always been kind of shy and quiet. He comes out of his shell a little after he's known someone a long time, but he doesn't trust easily, not anymore. He loves books, reading and getting caught up in the stories. He's good with words, even though he doesn't speak much. He's not one of those people who just talks for the sake of talking, to hear his own voice. He only opens his mouth when he has something to say.
Even though he seems like a pushover, because he's so quiet, he's far from it. He's very strong-willed, and he's very loyal to his friends. He's not a weak person by any means, and he stands up for those that he thinks need it. He has a strong sense of justice, of right and wrong. It's gotten his ass kicked a few times, since he's not the best fighter.
He's a very peaceful person, a peacekeeper, and violence is never his answer to anything. He'd rather talk his way out of a fight or run from it. Physical confrontation is not his thing, and he's kind of sensitive in the way that he takes everything said about him to heart, though he tries not to show it. He puts on a good stoic front when he needs to, but those that know him well can usually see through it.
He loves animals, much more than people, and he always wanted to be a vet, even though he went to school for human medicine, like his mother. He wanted to make her proud. He's sort of a people pleaser, at least with the people he cares about. He has a nurturing nature, but he'd much rather be using it on animals. Unfortunately, his patients are human much more often than they are animal.
He's not quite sure just what his sexuality is. He's attracted to women, but he realizd in his teen years that he likes guys, too. He's never had a relationship with a guy, only with girls, so I guess you could just call him bi-curious. He's kind of scared to do anything with a guy, even though he's attracted to them, and he's never found anyone that he likes enough to go very far with.
THE HISTORY
NATIONALITY: ½ Cherokee ½ European
Casey was born in Austin, Texas. His parents were never married, because they didn't see the need. He was their second child, and became the middle child a few years later when his twin brothers were born. The family stayed in Austin until Casey was twelve.
New York wasn't as bad as Casey expected, but he missed Texas. His father's new job had taken them there, so there wasn't much he could do about it anyway. He decided he might as well get used to it. He had his computer and his cell phone, he could still keep in touch with his friends back home.
He adapted quickly to the big city, joining the track team, like in Austin. He ended up really liking it there. He never really made any close friends outside of school, though. His sister was the opposite, hating the city, and eventually making lots of freinds.
Casey skyped almost every night, but gradually lost touch with most of his friends from back home. All but two; Lucas Campbell and Emberly Bledsoe. The three had met in kindergarten and had been insepperable until Casey moved to New York. The two of them came to visit a few times throughout middle school and highschool.
When they graduated high school, Emberly decided to move to New York and attend college there, with Casey. Lucas, on the other hand, had a serious girlfriend back home, and decided to stay there to be with her.
Casey and Emberly got an apartment together and were in the process of college when the outbreak began. Casey rushed to his sisters place, but she wasn't there. He found his parents dead at their place, but his little brothers were missing, too. He planned on searching for them, but wanted Emberly to help him, so he went back to their apartment. He found her packing a bag with a bloody, rusty machete hanging from her belt loop.
Emberly was always more violent than him, and she had no problem killing zombies. She told him she got the machete from the landlord's shed out back. He didn't even have a weapon. He had avoided the zombies, so far, by running.
They went looking for his sister and brothers, but couldn't find them anywhere. They searched for weeks, to no avail. They couldn't get in touch with Lucas, either, and decided to go to Texas and try to find him. Emberly did most of the zombie-killing. Casey only ever picked up a weapon when he absolutely had to.
