When first arriving in Henley Falls back in the month of June, Cole hadn’t been all too thrilled when his sister became a volunteer for the scavenger group. If he had it his way, she would have remained within the perimeter of the safe haven for good, not because he believed her to be incapable, but because he no longer wanted to experience the fear of losing the only person he had left. Of course, he had kicked up a fuss, but being just as stubborn and independent as he was, Cassidy had fought until she got her way, determined to prove herself.
Reluctantly, Cole had given in, but only because he had become a hunter. It was his job not only to exterminate the infected but also to protect the scavenger team whenever they went on one of their missions in the city. When on a scavenger mission, Cole always insisted on accompanying Cassidy. If anyone was going to protect her, it was going to be him, the only person he trusted in order to keep her safe. Some people may have considered him to obsessive, but after losing everyone else in his life and watching some of the people in the community lose their loved ones, Cole was one hundred percent set on the well being of his sister.
Cassidy was only his half-sister, but they might as well have been full siblings seeing as he had viewed his deceased step-mother as his own for most of his life. He owed everything to that woman for giving him a decent life and loving him unconditionally as if she had given birth to him. Protecting her daughter was something that he not only chose to do, but felt he had to do in order to keep Brenda’s memory alive.
The scavengers and the hunters had found their way to the city. They were on a mission to gather some more supplies from a shopping mall that they had yet to visit, due to the fact that it was the farthest complex away from Henley Falls. They had acquired a military truck that was reserved for specific missions like this. The team drove slowly through the streets of the city, dodging abandoned cars, scattered debris and corpses through their passage. The hunters stood in the truck bed, their guns at the ready in case there were an attack, while the scavengers sat down, waiting for their part of the mission to begin.
Cole remained stoic, shifting his gaze all around their surroundings suspiciously, preparing himself for any danger that may threaten them. He'd glance over to Cassidy every so often, a habit of his to make sure she was doing okay. He wore his old army gear with combat boots, which was the best kind of attire for the mission they were on. He carried an army rifle and had a belt full of extra ammo and his trusty machete in case he ran out. He was all set for what lay in front of them, feeling the determination rise within him as they traveled further and further into the city.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][cs=2] | SWEET AND DEVINE RAZOR BLADE SHINE ----------------------------------------------------------
[style= overflow: auto; width: 220px; height: 275px; padding:5px; font-size: 13px; background-color: #0e0e0e; border: 5px solid #0e0e0e;]She sat with her back against the cab of the truck, her body bouncing slightly with every bump they hit. She was a tiny thing, and she only realized this because every body else on this trip had been male. She was the only female, her frail body seeming to clash against the dirt and the muscles of the men sitting and standing around her. Her knees were up, but not quite against her chest, holding her knees up were her arms that were wrapped loosely around them, one hand clinging hopelessly to the wrist of the other hand while she kept her focus straight behind them, watching he dust being kicked up from the tires as they moved deeper and deeper into the city. It amazed her what the place looked like with a half a year of no one living in it. It was a ghost town to the max, only it had people eating creatures to make matters worse. Her ocean colored eyes never lost focus, she didn't want to talk or even look at her fellow mates. She just wanted to concentrate on the task ahead.
Alot of things had changed since the virals had run havoc, not only was she know parent less, but she now had seemed to find her place in the world.... in a twisted kind of way. She learned to fight and stay calm in a panicked situation. Five years ago she wouldn't like she did at all. Her hair was in a tight french braid, she was in a tight camo tank top with brown jeans and big combat boots with the laces starting to come untied. Cass was a scavenger, so she wasn't loaded with too much because it was her job to run and collect as much as possible for the ride home. Though she did have a cross belt strapped to her chest that held six different throwing blades. Cass was known for that back at Henley, she was as good with a blade as most would be with a gun. She liked the bow and arrow too, but since she would need to grab supplies, the bow would be too much to fumble around with while grabbing items on the run. If a man was to see her now, they would be scared and not in the least bit eyeing her up for her looks. She was a beautiful girl, but right now she looked as if she'd carve you up if you got too close.
She tried not to look at her brother, a grim look was set on her face and she could only hope he'd seen it. She was sick of being babied by him, but there was no way she'd be able to leave the gates without him right next to her anyway, so all she could do was just ignore him and do her best to look pissed. The young woman knew it was only for the best, but rather he knew it or not it made her look weak. Looking weak at a time like this was like dangling meat in front of a hungry wolf. It was only a matter of time before these people went mad, who knows what would happen then. Cassidy almost wanted people to be afraid of her so they wouldn't think about harming her, especially men. Times like this called for desperate measures, and Cole wasn't always going to be around, the last thing Cass wanted was to get raped and killed or something. Sure, she would handle and kill one or two men, but if a group came after her she wouldn't stand a chance. So Cole's constant protecting (at least in her eyes) could get her killed.
The military truck to a wheezing halt, brakes squeaking slightly. A man gave a quick order and the team started to hop out from the truck. Cass took a breath and stood herself, not looking at anyone as she swung from the truck bed's side to land squarely on her two feet, combat boots thudding in the dirt covered road. She walked past a few men, all were towering above her, but she didn't care. She held her chin up and walked with her eyes ahead of her, keeping her senses open for any virals that might be near. The city was a dangerous place, she was sure she'd get at least one kill in today....

Cole and Cassidy’s relationship had been somewhat strained since they had lost their mother. He had always been protective of his sister before the virus spread. However, before the world was infested with flesh eating zombies, his protective nature had been somewhat natural, giving Cassidy the independence she needed in order to grow as a person, while still being merely a phone call away in case she needed him. These days, Cole’s urge to protect Cassidy was irrational and smothering, which created a distance between the two.
Smothering his sister was something that Cole didn’t necessarily want to do. He knew that his sister was perfectly capable of looking after herself — she was twenty-five years old after all — but a apart of him feared not only losing her, but being left alone in the world (or what was left of it, anyway). Cassidy gave Cole something to live for. Without Cassidy, Cole’s existence was worthless...or so he believed. Of course, Cole had no intention to reveal his fears to his sister willingly, not wanting to appear weak in her eyes. However, it only half occurred to him that withholding this information would only make the distance between them grow.
Once the truck had come to a halt a few hundred meters from the shopping mall, Cole was already in combat mode. He jumped out of the truck with masculine grace, cocking his rifle before he made his way behind Cassidy, ready to be her own personal body guard. “We walk to the mall from here.” He instructed the team gruffly, before deliberately moving himself in front of Cassidy — out of habit — as they made their way down the deserted street, towards their destination.
The building that was once based on consumerism was soon in sight and in the parking lot were stray walkers, absently staggering in circles, hungry for a taste of human flesh. “Okay boys, we take out these son’s of bitches first, then make our way to the entrance. Half of you should head around back and see if we can get in that way — the main entrance is most likely locked.” He spoke clearly before turning to face Cassidy. “Stay with me.” He added sternly, not wanting a repeat of other missions where Cassidy had decided to run off on her own.
With that said, Cole began running towards the infected, taking one down with a bullet to the head. This action alerted the other walkers of the team’s presence, which only made them more fierce and ravenous as the hunters made taking them down their first mission.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][cs=2] | SWEET AND DEVINE RAZOR BLADE SHINE ----------------------------------------------------------
[style= overflow: auto; width: 220px; height: 275px; padding:5px; font-size: 13px; background-color: #0e0e0e; border: 5px solid #0e0e0e;] Cassidy's eyes connected with the back of Cole's head when he moved to be in front of her. Yes, she knew she was a scavenger and her job was not to hunt the zombies, but she felt like a line of cattle always following after someone. After sighing somewhat, the young woman took in her surroundings walking slowly to give some distance between herself and her brother, though not enough that he would notice and get pissed at her. It was almost as if they were both magnets, he could almost feel the separation that was growing to far apart and before she could even contemplate moving left with the other men who were planning a different route, Cole swung around and barked at her to stay with him. She wasn't the type to start something in the middle of a mission, arguing with her brother was not part of the package and surely was not necessary at a time like this. So instead she rolled her ocean colored eyes when he turned to face forward again and made sure to close the gap some what as they drew closer to the mall.
Cass was agile and light on her feet, despite the heavy combat boots on, she seemed to quietly stay were it was safe and out of the line of fire when it came to the hunters attacking. She was in no need to be dodging and attacking anything yet, the hoards hadn't gotten that bad.. yet. The young woman was sure things would start to heat up, especially when they entered into the mall. Aimlessly she followed the hunter group that was busy at work, seeing the entrance gave her some sort of hope that she would actually be doing something. With the patch before the doors clear, Cass went forward and pulled on the huge glass doors. The doors shook slightly, but otherwise wouldn't open. With a tiny huff she stepped back and eyed the men behind her. The doors were glass and most likely could be broken into, it was just the idea of attracting more virals with the noises that would annoy her.
She eyed her brother before stepping away from the door even farther. She wasn't someone who bossed other people around, so she instead watched her brother do all the work, barking orders and finding a way to keep track of all his men. Cass would listen to him... to an extent, but she knew just like everyone else, she was more likely to get away with things than the rest of the men on the mission. She wasn't exactly proud of the fact, but her brother still treated her like a child sometimes and she didn't think he had it in him to punish her like he might the rest of his men when something went wrong.

One by one the immediate threat of the walkers outside the mall fell with a blood curdling defeat — however, that small victory was no excuse to lower their guard. Cole knew for a fact that there would be more of the infected close by, so he and his team would need to keep on their toes in case they were faced with yet another attack. With so many nooks and crannies to hide in, the city was a very dangerous place. You could rarely determine what threat was around the next bend. The survivors only entered the city when they had to — with a specific mission in mind — usually to retrieve much needed supplies for the community of Henley Falls.
As the last of their immediate threat fell, Cole found himself by his sister’s side. “The front entrance is unlocked?” He asked rhetorically, having witnessed Cassidy checking the doors from the corner of his eye as he was slaying the undead. Cole signaled for his team to join them in a circle — he didn’t dare to call out to them, not wanting to draw out more of the infected. “This entrance is locked. We could easily smash our way through, but that would prove to be a stupid ass move on all our parts.” He stated practically. “We make a move for another entrance and I’m not just referring to doors, people. Any opening that will get us into that building will do.” He began to instruct his team. “Half of us will head around the left side of the building, while the rest follow the right. Contact me on the transceiver if you find anything.”
Cole and Cassidy were in the group that were heading around the right side of the building. He carried his rifle in a position that indicated that he was ready to shoot as his half of the team remained close together. As they moved past each entrance into the shopping complex, the group found that each door was locked. Just as Cole was about to give up and contact the other half of the team to see if they had discovered anything promising, something caught his eye — a ladder, hanging down from the roof. The ladder didn’t extended to the ground, but he knew that if he were to get a boost, he could pull the ladder down so that they could climb it. Lifting the transceiver to his mouth, Cole pressed the button and began to speak to the other half of his team. “We found a way in over here, boys. I suggest you circle back and find us. Over.” He ordered before turning to Cassidy. “You want a job?” He asked reluctantly, having to admit to himself that Cassidy was perfect for the job that he had in mind, given that she weighed the least out of all the people in his team. “Stand on my shoulders, and pull the ladder down. You up for that?” He went on, his lips curving into a toothless smile — a peace offering of sorts.
