Tempt the fates, beware the smile; It hides all the teeth, my dear, What's behind them...
Sylvia is a thirty year old scavenger with no surviving family, who has been living in Henley Falls for a little under a month. She's not physically strong and has no formal education, but she's highly skilled in her own way - not least because all her life, she's kind of been a nomadic loner struggling against the odds. Very resilient and practical, she's basically a natural survivor. She also lives entirely in the present: with the world changed irrevocably the past has become irrelevant, and it's pointless to think far into the future when she could easily be killed in her next scavenging expedition. For more detailed information about Sylvia's personality, history and suchlike, check out her application.
Friends in any strict definition will be few and far between, because she tends to be distrustful - and with the life expectancy these days, it doesn't pay to get attached. Allies, however, will be many: she makes an effort to form contacts and be on good terms with people, purely because it's beneficial to her survival. She's not naturally a people person and her social skills are a little rusty. Fellow scavengers and hunters would be the people she has most contact with, as they would work together. Enemies will be rarer, because she keeps herself to herself and avoids confrontation - with so many guns around, it doesn't pay to piss anyone off.
I have a character request up here for two characters - her boyfriend/partner and an enemy who poses a distinct threat to her and Henley Falls as a whole. The plot will be great and offers a lot of possibilities, so please consider taking one of them!

Connor O'Brogan. To be frank, on sites with settings like this one I prefer to plot by threading rather than planning everything out in advance, so I'm not going to write a long blurb for Connor. His application is here, but here's an extremely abbreviated list of what you need to know: thirty-two, hunter, no surviving family, widowed by the infection, English guy with Irish parentage, has been living in Henley Falls since May. Gregarious, full of bravado, projects a devil may care attitude. Impulsive, optimistic, vulgar, straightforward, hedonistic, brash sense of humour. He has nothing going on right now, so plot away.
