don't get too close, it's dark inside, it's where my demons hide ERIC JAMES CALDER Hey there! It's Mercy with a new character, played by Mercy. I'm currently twenty years old and live in the eastern timezone. This application is complete. basics GENDER: Male AGE: 33 BIRTHDAY: April 30 NATIONALITY: American SEXUALITY: Straight PREVIOUS OCCUPATION: Detective CURRENT OCCUPATION: Law Enforcement relations MOTHER: Shannon[birth mother - deceased], Jennifer Calder[adoptive/stepmother - deceased] FATHER: Elias Calder[deceased] BROTHER(S): Aiden and Andrew Calder SISTER(S): Lucille Calder SPOUSE: None CHILDREN: None PET(S): None OTHER: None appearance Eric is a tall man, standing at six feet and three inches. His frame is nicely muscled and well filled out, though he's slim and maintains a good weight from the exercise he gets on a daily basis. Simply put, he's solid. His dark brown hair is always kept short, though it gets curlier as he grows it out, and even when he hasn't shaved, he keeps his facial hair nicely trimmed. Eric's eyes are a deep shade of blue, over which loom a pair of thick, but nicely shaped eyebrows. To go along with his solid body, Eric had a nicely squared jaw which has taken a few good hits in the past. His charming smile matches his personality well and, overall, he looks like his father almost to a T. personality As the oldest child, Eric has a much better understanding of responsibility than any of his other siblings. He always strives to do what is right, even if it's not the easiest thing to do. Though he has a sense of humor and horses around with his brothers, he's the most serious of the bunch. Stubborn and protective, Eric is much like his father. Perhaps it was the fact that his mother was not his actual birth mother that led Eric to be a fairly good listener. After all, she didn't have to love him unconditionally, and yet she did anyway. Knowing this as he grew up, Eric usually did what was asked of him, especially when Jennifer was concerned. From an early age, Eric was a problem solver. He was always the middle ground in fights between his siblings and remains so to this day. Not only is Eric strong physically, he's also strong mentally, with plenty of will and desire. He's certainly charming and polite, but he's no pushover and he's not someone to mess around with. He remains silent when he needs to, but he has no problem speaking his mind when situations call for it. He's never quick to anger, but when he is angry, it can get ugly. history Eric was born in the state of Massachusetts, not too far from Cape Cod. His father was a successful business man and his mother, after giving birth, gave up her job as a nurse to take care of her son. She wanted more than anything to have a big family and Eric was the start of that family. Eric doesn't remember much of his mother. He remembers how beautiful and caring she was and he can sometimes remember her scent, but that's where his memories fail him. When Eric was two years old, his mother developed a brain tumor. She died just a year later, leaving her husband with a broken heart and a son to take care of. Things were tough at first. Not quite knowing how to juggle being a single parent and a business man at the same time, he found himself relying heavily on the one person who was more willing than anybody to help him out. Her name was Jennifer and she'd been working as Eli's secretary for just a few short months when Eli started to bring his son to work. He didn't know what else to do and, until he could find someone to care for Eric... he was stuck. Jennifer did that and more though. She was there for Eric and Eli when they needed her and, after wondering if he would ever find the one for him, Eli finally saw what was right in front of him. Jennifer was the only thing that could make their family complete again and Eli didn't want his son to go through life without a mother figure there to nurture him. Not to mention... Eli was falling in love again. By the time Eric was five years old, Jennifer was pregnant and married to Eli. Loving Eric like he was her own son, Jennifer adopted him, just before giving birth to Aiden. Though nobody could ever replace his birth mother, Jennifer did an amazing job of caring for Eric and he loved her like she was his own. Aiden and Eric were close growing up, though there were a few times that the two had to be pulled apart before they broke something... or each other. When Eric was seven years old, Andrew was born. Yes... another boy. It was surprising that Jennifer's hair was completely gray, but she did an amazing job. She knew how to control her sons, especially Eric. He was always the bright and shining example for his younger brothers. As the boys grew older, their appetites grew larger. With three athletic boys in the house and one grown man, Jennifer might as well have been feeding an entire army. Eric was always encouraged to do what was right and, for as long as he could remember, he had tried to do just that, even if the right answer wasn't always the easy answer. With his parents always encouraging him to be what he wanted to be, Eric was more determined than ever to become the detective that he had always dreamed of being. Before Eric graduated from high school, a miracle happened. Jennifer had finally gotten what she wanted: a little girl who she named Lucille. There was no doubt that Eric adored Lucille, as did his brothers, but the relationship between Eric and Lucy was a special one. As she grew, she was practically glued to Eric's side. This didn't even change after Eric went away to school and when he went through training. Eric's life was going smoothly up until the outbreak. Living in a city not far from home, Eric earned a decent living as a detective. When the virus started to spread and all hell started to break loose, the young man headed home out of worry for his family, and rightly so. Aiden and Andrew were nowhere close to home when Massachusetts was hit. Their father had been bitten and was just starting to show signs of infection when Eric arrived. They didn't know what was going to happen to Elias; they didn't know that he would turn. Elias made it only into the night before he died. Jennifer sobbed and held his lifeless body while Eric held his sister, silent tears flowing down his own face. Leaving his mother and father alone while he took Lucy into another room was probably the worst mistake he ever made. The sound of his adoptive mother screaming made Eric run like he had never run before. By the time he got there though, it was too late. Had it not been for Lucy, Eric never would have been able to put down his parents, but he had to. With Lucy in tow and as many supplies as Eric could fit into his car, they were off. He didn't know where he was going, but Eric knew one thing: he was going to keep his sister alive even if it meant he had to die trying. Sometime in July, Eric found a group of hunters and scavengers who led him and his sister to Henley Falls: their one and only hope for surviving this nightmare. Now, Eric works as a law enforcement officer in the haven and can only hope that his brothers are out there, alive. |
