The sun just past it's high point in the sky, only to slowly make its way back down before it set below the horizon. Another night where he wasn't sure if he'd make it through alive. Another night of tossing and turning. Louis couldn't harp all that much on this place, it had kept them safe so far from the virals, there really wasn't much more he could do but help the people around him and hope eventually this whole thing was just a bad dream that he would soon wake up from... which he highly doubted.
Kicking a rock against tall fence that was known as the inside fence, Louis tried to look through it and past toward the outside, frankly wondering what was farther past the haven. No, he hadn't been outside either gate since his uncle, himself and Viv had found the place. It wasn't that he was scared, it was more like he knew he would get into trouble out there by himself, so he let the idiot hunters and scavengers go out and risk they're lives to bring back things for the rest of the people to survive. If the time came where he had to leave the haven, well he would... but not without plenty of weapons and protection. He was still getting the hang of using a gun, now that he was thrown into the law enforcement spectrum, he had to learn at least the basics. Everything was different now and the young man hated every minute of it. He thought in a sick kind of way he would see Viv more now that her family was gone, but instead she had been so busy jumping in with the Medical group it was almost as if she didn't have any time for him. He wasn't going to throw a fit about it like a child, but he had really enjoyed what life was like before... and he was sure everyone else did too.
With the air being a bit more chilly, Lou had on a gray hoodie and blue jeans with a beat up pair of sneakers he'd managed to hold on to. Uncle Jimmy had given him the rest of the day off since things had been slow. People were mainly focusing on the crop harvest that no one was really among the streets, therefore things didn't need watching. Louis took the time to walk, and that he did. He was as far away from his residential area as he could be without climbing over the fences. Just the thought made him smirk as he looked up. A bird flew over head and he heard its familiar chirp. Louis sighed and leaned up against the wall, looking out over the slightly open area where they kept livestock.
He had never told Viv how much he adore her, and the more and more they got close Louis wanted to say something but never had. She would never be interested in him for anything more than a friend. Sure, she'd cried on his shoulder, help him so fiercely he thought she was going to hurt herself, she'd even kissed him... never on the lips but then again that's what friends did. Lou was never one to get jealous, but when it came to Vivienne he let that side show somewhat. He watched Viv date guys, everyone he'd hated, but he never told her that. He always thought he'd hated them just because they were able to have the Viv that he wanted for himself. What he didn't realize was that he was most likely closer to her than anyone of those guys she'd dated... maybe not in some ways... but then again Lou never asked. He was there for her whenever she needed him, that was really all he could do.... or had the balls to do at least.
Slowly letting his feet slid, he sank to the soft grass beneath him and rested the back of his head against the cold metal fence wall behind him. That fence was not only the only thing keeping him alive, but it was the only thing that was keeping him from falling backward at this point.

A chill came over Vivienne as she stepped out into the open air, the breeze tousling her long curls. Finally, she felt as though she could breathe. It wasn't that the hospital was overly crowded. After all, there were only so many people in the haven. Still, the injuries that did come in were often nasty. A hunter had been in that day. He had been bitten in the leg and, before the virus could spread through the rest of his body, his partner had sawed off his leg. The man would live, but he certainly wasn't going to be going on anymore raids.
Pulling her faux leather jacket around herself and putting up the hood of the gray hoodie that she had beneath that, Vivienne stuffed her hands into her pockets and looked around for a moment, trying to decide what to do since she was done for the day, unless there should be any emergencies that is. What she craved the most right then was company.
It didn't take her long to find him and, when she noticed his familiar form, she couldn't help but smile slightly. Her cheeks flushed from the cold air, Viv made her way toward Lous and slid down beside him. Every now and then a hunter would pass by, patrolling between the gates, but they were otherwise alone.
"I found you," she said to him, moving closer to her best friend to keep warm. He was so quiet, something she was useful, but still... he had to be thinking of something. Louis was always thinking about something. "What's on your mind?" she asked Louis, giving him a light smile.
Lou was all that Viv had left and she wasn't about to lose him. In all honesty, it worried her whenever he wasn't near and every time someone new was brought in to the hospital, she was terrified that it would be Louis. "Am I the only one who thinks it's cold out here?" she asked, shivering and wishing she could burrow herself deeper into her coat and hoodie. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis' eyes trailed over to the figure walking toward him. Here he was complaining about not seeing her, and next thing he knew she was walking over to him... how she found him, well he didn't know and he didn't care. A small smile fell over his face at her playful tone. He felt her familiar warmth next to him as soon as she sat down. Then she asked the inevitable. What was on his mind? Louis could only smile even bigger at the question, though he soon turned his face toward her, those brown eyes of his looking over her features before sighing, "A hell of a lot of things, Viv." He said this in an almost depressed manner. He had to stop moping around like an idiot. He needed to at least be the guy she was used to.
The young man tried to look on the bright side of things, he could still be sitting here by himself, or someone he didn't like could have swung by and tried to keep him company. He let out a chuckle, shoving his hands in the pouch of his hoodie. "No its cold... I guess..." He looked over at her with her layers of clothing and gave her a half smile, "I don't think its that cold though...." He said and nudged her gently. He was quiet again for a half a minute, he kept his eyes ahead of him, wishing the weather was a bit warmer. At least when it was warm things seemed more lively. He felt that urge to talk start to bubble up inside him, it was only Vivienne who could make him open up, he almost hated it. Not even Uncle Jimmy can get him to talk about those things that really bothered him. He let a breath out through his nose and then said, "Honest to god Viv, do you think we'll ever get out of here?" He paused for a second and then added, "I mean alive... do you think everything will go back to normal?" He looked over at her and her flushed cheeks. She was his rock as much as he was her's.
Lou was glad she'd gotten out of work, or whatever she had been doing. He frankly wondered if she was coming to find him just because she was bored or if she had something on her mind as well. He craved for her company either way, he honestly didn't mind if he was her last resort for someone to talk to, as long as she came to him he would help her.

Vivienne rolled her eyes as Louis nudged her and she nudged him right back. "Don't judge me," she said to him, smiling somewhat. As he grew quiet for a moment, she let her head rest against his shoulder. Lou's close proximity could turn the worst of days into the best. She too was silent until he finally spoke up.
A frown crossed the young woman's face as she listened to what he had to say and, for a moment, she refrained from speaking. "I... I don't know," she admitted honestly. "I don't think anything could ever go back to normal after this, but you never know." Pulling back a little to look at his face, she bit her bottom lip in thought.
"It's not like we can give up though. What good would that do anyone? I'd rather go down fighting and take down as many of those things as I possibly can. That way, even if I don't have a chance at having a normal life again, maybe other people will." Looking at Lou, she watched his expression for a moment.
Behind them, Viv could hear the hideous sound of groaning and the off beat sound of a zombie's unnatural gate. Shifting to look at the thing, Viv held onto the fence, pursing her lips somewhat. The thing that wanted to get through the fence was hideous to say the least and Viv was grateful for the distance the two fences put between them, though that distance didn't always feel like enough.
The sound of one of the hunters walking between the fences greeted Viv's ears and she was grateful when he stabbed the thing right in the head. Not wanting to watch anymore, Viv turned once again, trying to ignore the fact that there was a body nearby. There was always a body nearby; it was something you had to get use to, as sick as it may have seemed.
"Even if things do go back to being somewhat normal... I think it will be a while..." she said, listening as the hunter walked off again to continue his patrol. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis sat and listened to what she had to say with a blank expression on his face. He blinked once or twice, only to turn his head slightly to look behind him as Viv did to see the Zombie trying hopelessly to get through the outer fencing, Louis knew this effort was futile, so he turned his head back around while Vivienne continued to watch. Lou had seen enough of the gore and virals, he wanted nothing to do with them anymore, but that was a bigger wish than could be granted. His brown eyes caught her face after she turned back to talk again, the new found cop listened to what she had to say and then sat quietly while he processed it. "I hate not knowing." He stated simply and then went quiet again.
He hated being chewed up and spit out by the world anymore. He wondered if there was any other haven in the U.S., there had to be. This couldn't be the only population of people left, or at least the only safe spot in the U.S. They hadn't been behind the fences for more than a year yet, but Louis was already itching to get out and see if he could find more. The young man knew it was idiotic to think about, and he would second guess himself as soon as he was close to exiting the outer gate, but the thought was still there... whether it was his daring side or his self conscience trying to tell him something. "I'll fight until the end too." He said and then turned to Viv with a serious look on his face, "If anything ever happens and I get bit Viv, I'm being dead serious when I say I want you to kill me before I turn into one of those things." He said this without a break or hesitation. He had this planned from the start, he hadn't wanted anything else than for Viv to put him out of his misery before he killed someone as a viral. He trusted Viv in getting the job done, no matter how twisted it was. The times they were living in now were twisted.
He hadn't meant to get so serious with his best friend, so he tried to lighten up somewhat. "With Uncle Jimmy teaching me how to use a gun, I doubt those things will get close enough to me anyway... I was just saying." Louis tried to force a smile, but it came out a half smile and he just let out a sigh. "I'm thinking of ditching the whole idea of trying to escape from the bustling people..." He looked behind him again and then shivered, even the idea of seeing those things made him slightly dizzy. He got up with a grunt, and then turned and helped Viv up. "Let's go... do something.." He said with a big smile for once....

"Lou..." Viv said, feeling sick just thinking about him being infected. "Don't say that." Her throat felt tight when she said this. Louis was all that she had left and he'd always been there for her, for as long as she could remember. She wasn't too convinced when he tried to lighten up the conversation and she wound up giving him a slight look. The thought of having to shoot Lou... it made Vivienne want to throw up. She'd have an easier time shooting herself than shooting Louis.
After he helped her up, Viv brushed off the back of her pants, not exactly fancying the idea of walking around with dirt or grass on her butt. She gave him another look as he smiled at her. "I don't think you're very funny. You owe me for being such a downer, Louis," she said with a sigh, linking arms with him for both comfort and warmth. She could remember being a kid, when all of the boys use to make fun of Louis for hanging around with a girl all the time. The thought made her let out a sigh as she let him lead her to wherever the hell he wanted to go.
"What do you want to do then?" she asked him, watching as they passed by a few scavengers who were unloading a truck. Her eyes were trained o them for a moment, until they passed, and Viv turned her face back toward Louis.
She couldn't help but think of what he said once more and she felt herself cringe the slightest bit as she took in her best friend's handsome features. Just imagining him being one of them... she shivered at the thought and pulled herself closer to him, as if she was just cold. In all honesty though, she just wanted to be close to him and to never lose him like she lost her family. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis still held his smile, even when she said he'd owe her. He could care less, if he could have things his way he would owe her for the rest of his life and he wouldn't care one bit. He welcomed her linked arm and pulled her in closer to him playfully, walking a few off paces before matching strides with her's. "I don't know... something that'll get my mind of the dark stuff..." He said, turning and giving Viv and faint smile before pulling her closer and resting his head against her's as they walked farther away from the gates....
They managed to find several things to do to kill the hours of the day. All of those things helped Louis to think of something other than the current situation and if they would ever make it out of the haven and be safe while doing it. The sun had been set for a while now and the two of them had managed to make it back home, and Louis felt the need to try and make something for dinner. Uncle Jimmy hadn't been home, and it was empty from what Lou could tell. He wondered what happened to the two men who roomed with them, but didn't press the matter. He had brought together what simple stuff they had and made dinner for the two of them. Being in culinary made things easier. They ate... and ate alot, it was the first time Lou had really eaten all day and he was starving.
Lou let Viv rant about the hospital and all the drama and chaos within while he sat and ate, looking up and commenting on most of the things she had to say. He did his best to try to lighten her problems, but he ended up just laughing about it. He couldn't imagine being in her shoes, not only because he didn't like chaos... he also hated needles. It seemed late, and when Louis looked at the clock it was... and still no one was home. He cleaned up dinner and strode back to the kitchen table that Viv was still sitting at. "Thanks for today.. I think I needed to get away from the every day crap I've been doing." His brown eyes met her face as he leaned back on the counter slightly, giving her another shy smile before debating on what to do next. He did need to shower at some point, and who knows what time he'd end up actually falling asleep tonight...

For once, Viv was content as she sat there at the table. As Louis started to clean up though, this feeling slowly started to dissipate as she traced the edges of the table with the tips of her finger. Not for the first time, she wondered what had become of the people who had once called that very house their home. Where they alive? Or were they out there, infected like so many others? Sometimes she half expected the owners to come barging in, demanding to know what they were doing in their house. It was odd living in a space that wasn't your own...filled with memories of a life that didn't belong to you. The thought made Viv a little queasy and, chewing on her bottom lip, she got to her feet.
"It's what I'm here for," she said, shrugging her shoulders and pulling herself up so that she was sitting on the counter, next to where he was standing. "Thanks for dinner," she said, smiling and nudging Lou with her foot. "I'd probably starve if it wasn't for you." It wasn't that Viv couldn't cook. She just never liked to. Viv's idea of cooking for Lou had always been frozen pizza or pizza rolls... something quick and easy. Although, she always enjoyed making salads. That was back home though, before the virus spread. Viv hadn't so much as seen a pizza roll since.
"You sure you're alright? You're awfully sentimental lately... Louis... have you been doing drugs?" Viv smiled the slightest bit, always having enjoyed teasing him. "You know what I think about you doing drugs and not sharing with me." words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis gave her a soft smile, looking down at they're feet dangling off the counter. He finally looked up at her face and smiled once again, but this time he chuckled slightly. She always made him feel better, and there was never a time she failed to make him smile. "I think Uncle Jim would say the same thing." He let his brown eyes sink back down to the ground again. The young man felt that warm feeling he always had whenever Viv had thanked him for things, he felt that he needed to take care of her, now more than ever since her family was gone. They were almost the same in a way now, neither of them had parents now, under very different circumstances, and Lou was no way proud of this fact... but it was one of those things he thought of now and again.
Arching his brow while he looked up once again, all that Louis could do was roll his eyes at her. "No, I swear nothing is wrong, I've just had more time to think about things than before." He said this as if it would be a bad thing. He was quiet for a little longer now, and then sighed with a smile on his face, "No drugs are involved, you know the rules just as well as I do. There's no point in having them without sharing." He smirked once more before letting his face fall as he thought about the first time he smoked pot. It had been with Viv of course, a night that his uncle had been working late. Uncle Jimmy would have killed him if he found out how high he'd been, but it wasn't like the ran around town. He and Viv just giggled, then had really serious, deep conversation... they ate a boat load of food and then passed out on the couch.. well Louis had fallen onto the floor, but all in all it was a harmless drug. He smiled at the memory and then pushed it aside, sliding off the counter.
"I don't know about you, but I'm kind of tired....I guess..." He tilted his head just slightly to the side, watching her gaze only to smile and look down. She made him feel good inside, something he'd always been foreign to whenever she wasn't around. He knew he had to do something, to show her that he'd loved her more than just a friend for years now. The thought of her finding someone around here and settling down made him sick. That nervous side kicked his thoughts in the gut and he rubbed the back of his neck, not really knowing what to do. When she slid off the counter, Louis took the opportunity to step in front of her. Being his goofball self, he offered her his arm. "You need to be escorted to your room... might as well follow up with feeding you dinner... Ya know.. to make sure you get home safe." He said with a goofy half smile planted on his face...

Vivienne couldn't help but roll her eyes when Louis stepped in front of her an offered her his arm. He could be such a dork at times. She had to admit though, his dorkyness always gave her a warm feeling. She wouldn't be able to survive without him. "You're such a nerd," she teased him, arching a brow and pushing him lightly. "If you're scared and need me to walk you upstairs, just say so."
A wide smile crossed Viv's face and she walked by him. "By the way... I call the first shower." Sticking out her tongue, Viv bolted up the stairs, racing him to get to the bathroom first. They were always arguing about who was going to take a shower first. One time, while they had been arguing over just that, James had walked right between them to take a shower while they wasted time arguing. The other guys in their group insisted that the two argued like an old married couple at times. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis smiled and then stood blinking for a moment or two when she pushed him aside to run up to the shower. He then realized what she was doing and he booked it after her, his feet sliding on the runner carpet leading to the steps. "NO way! I was trying to be nice! And besides I cooked dinner!!!!" He thudded up the steps behind her, laughing like he hadn't done in what seemed like forever. Louis and Viv had always had that playful side to them, she never hesitated to tackle him to the ground when he wasn't looking, and he stuck his foot out to trip her every now and again. So when they reached the top of the stairs, it felt only normal for Louis to grab Viv from around the waist and pull her toward him. She weighed hardly anything so it was easy for him to whip her around.
He half tripped and let go of her, giving her a second or two to get away from him. "OW! My toe!" He said, still laughing like a child. Without stopping, he thundered after her. Right before she reached the bathroom though, he caught her again around the waist, swinging her back and laughing at her girly squeal. Nothing had ever came by it before, but for whatever reason this time he roughly (but not too roughly) pinned her against the wall of the hallway leading to the bathroom. He hadn't known if it was the proximity of them, maybe the heaving of they're chests together or her warm breath trickling across his throat, but for whatever reason he suddenly gained the courage. Instead of flicking her in the head or something a friend would do, he bent his head and looked into those eyes of her's, then ducking down even farther to touch his lips against her's.
She felt like home to him, yet foreign at the same time. It was ridiculously glorifying and he didn't even know how she felt about it yet. His hand slid to her waist to grab hold gently of one of her now exposed hips. He tilted his head slightly and came alive right in front of her, sliding the other hand against the wall to make sure he wouldn't fall over. He pulled against her lips, only to press back against them just to get the feeling again. Before he'd even realized what he'd done he pulled away, his lips still parted slightly as he opened his brown eyes to see her reaction. He opened his mouth to say sorry and crawl back into his shell....

Wild, girlish laughter escaped Viv's lips as she practically wrestled with Louis to get to the bathroom first. "Baby!" she called out as he stubbed his toe and let her slip away from him. She was almost there when he grabbed her around the waist again, lifting her as if she weighed nothing. "No!" she squealed, trying to hold onto the door frame.
When he pinned her against the wall, Viv's chest was heaving, her cheeks flushed, and her face lit up with laughter. What happened next was enough to leave Vivienne speechless. She knew what was going to happen just from the look in his and, almost numbly, she found herself meeting him half way. The sensation of his lips was shocking at first and she felt her heart flutter as his hand slipped onto her exposed waist. The moment he pulled away, her lips parted slightly.
As shocked as Viv was, she was disappointed to have him pull away. She knew it was wrong... he was her best friend. Whatever it was that they were doing, it would only complicate things. And yet, it felt so damn right. Her heart was still pounding and she watched the look on his face as he pulled back. She didn't want him to pull back though. She didn't want him to say he was sorry.
"Lou-" she said, grabbing hold of the front of his shirt while she pulled herself away from the wall to meet his body against hers. Her kiss was a passionate one, almost desperate. The entire time, all she could think of was the fact that he was her best friend.
And yet, she didn't stop herself. Viv was standing on her toes just to reach his lips, her own parting against his. Her hand slid from his shirt and up his chest before she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck. She was so desperate to get closer to his lips that she wound up stepping on his feet just to get closer. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis wasn't able to get the word sorry out, let alone feel that way before Viv pressed her lips to his this time. She held more passion and forwardness than he had, which didn't mean anything toward her, Louis was just always so shy when it came to new things. She held no bars anymore, and as far as Louis was concerned she liked it since she came to kiss him this time. He tilted his head slightly to make things easier for her since she seemed to eager to get to his lips. He hadn't an idea of what he was doing and where this was leading, all he knew is that even though he knew Viv was his friend, it felt too good to just end it. Things weren't going to be the same after this either way, so might as well make something out of it. At least that was his way of thinking.
Scooping her up, Louis kept her in his arms but hadn't lost contact with her lips at all. Instead he was greedily pulling and pushing against her lips, eager to keep contact with her. It was thrilling and nerve racking at the same time, but for whatever reason Lou had the courage to keep going, he wanted to do something daring. He slipped into the bathroom and managed to flip the light on. He stumbled into the sink somewhat, but never lost her. Instead he stepped right into the stand up shower and pressed her back into the wall next to the shower head. He started to smile faintly against her lips till he finally started to laugh slightly. "Now you'll just have to learn to share..." He said, reaching over and turning the shower on. They were still fully clothed, but Louis didn't care. He went right back to kissing her even with the water pouring down him....

Vivienne gripped him tightly as he lifted her right off of her feet. The sensations flowing through her were almost mind numbing and she was incapable of breaking the connection between them. A part of her was almost nervous, to be honest. They were crossing boundaries that they had never crossed... ever. It was almost scary, but at the same time it was insanely exciting.
She was breathless when he broke their kiss and turned on the water. As it poured down on them, soaking them and their clothes, she couldn't help but take his face in her hands and smile. "I guess I can do that," she said, her mind racing. She was kissing Louis... It was insane and it was only going to get even more crazy.
Her shirt, which had been riding up anyway, was the first to come off. Before long, all of their soaked clothes were in a wet heap upon the floor of the shower. She had never seen so much of Louis before and the sight caused the color to rise in her cheeks. "Should we be doing this?" she asked him, almost in a whisper. She didn't stop though, her fingers running lightly down her chest as her lips trailed down his neck. words (###) tags (Tag Here) muse (How's your muse?) comments (Comments here) lyrics (Aurora by Foo Fighters)

Louis pulled on her lip after she spoke, smiling once more at her tone. He had never been in this position with her before. He'd gotten jealous that other men had, but now that he was standing in they're spots he honestly didn't care who the fuck was jealous, he was having her all to himself. Pressing his lips on her's again, pushing his tongue through her lips to find her own. When she hinted at stripping by pulling at her shirt, all he could do was help her and go along with it. He hadn't known what else they would do, surely he wasn't intending to have sex with her at first, but his body was starting to disobey that thought.
He slowly and deliberately helped her undress, only to slid off his own clothing as if she'd seen him naked before. He didn't care anymore, all he wanted to more of her. It was almost carnal, the feeling he felt for her all of a sudden. Those feelings had been pent up for so long it was almost as if his top blew and he couldn't contain them anymore. He watched her face flush, and for once he was glad it wasn't himself. Her tone made him slow down slightly, even if she hadn't. Should they be doing this? The water was warm and cascaded down them, only seeming to bring them closer to each other. He tilted his head back and stared at the shower head while her lips trailed down his throat. "Why not?" He suddenly said, arching a brow. His tone wasn't loud, but it wasn't shy either. He found himself looking back down at her face, the only noise between them was the steady hiss of the shower. His brown eyes met her's and he smirked somewhat, "There is nothing wrong with experimenting with a close friend." He said this so suddenly he felt as if it didn't even come out of his own mouth. He shocked himself, but it didn't show on his face. Instead he leaned in closer to her, kissing her soft lips and running his hand under her neck and then trailed his fingers up through her wet hair. "Your just not comfortable with this side of me... yet." He said in a whisper close to her ear. Vivienne was usually the one to make him shy, the one to tease him and such. So when the tables were turned and he had her pinned figuratively and quite literally he could only grow more courage from this. He wanted to catch her in a spot were she felt the feelings that he had for all these years. Not that they were bad, obviously since he was head over heels for her, but it was a new experience for both of them. He hadn't minded this idea at all. Kissing her neck, he smiled once more and mumbled, "And you don't seem to be wanting anything to stop..." He said, gently nipping at her collarbone before he found the rest of his body touching her bare skin. What a weird feeling it was to finally be touching her like this after all these years.
