THE APPEARANCE
Amelia is of average height, standing at 5"6. Her build used to be quite athletic and slender, but she has since lost quite a bit of weight after surviving mostly on her own for the past few weeks.
She has long dirty blonde hair that's naturally wavy. It has been messy for quite some time after staying alive and running from the infected. Her eyes are of a icy blue shade, but at times appear to be grey, depending on the lighting conditions.
Amelia was quite into fashion before the virus hit and her world was turned upside down forever. However, rather than follow most trends, she would create her own style, picking and choosing from the trends she did like to finding unique items at vintage stores. These days, she mostly just ops for comfort.

THE PERSONALITY
Amelia has gone through many personality transformations for a woman as young as she. She has never quite grasped who she is as a person after experiencing several traumatic experiences in her lifetime so far. These days, the best word to describe her is a 'survivor'. No matter how hopeless she has felt, she has survived so much and has kept pushing forward.
Her most admirable personality traits are bravery, intelligence and compassion. While some of her not so admirable traits consist of irrationally, stubbornness, lack of trust for others, her temper and her ability to manipulate others. After surviving on her own for several weeks after the virus hit, Amelia has become a little wild and has lost touch with some of her morals.
She has become quite paranoid of everything around her since she lost faith in humanity a long time a go. Because she has lost so much, she see's herself as a shell of her former self, not really living, just existing. As time drags on, she finds her hope in finding her family fading. She's not sure how long she can hold onto her sanity, before her chaotic mind consumes her.

THE HISTORY
BIRTHDAY: March 9th, 1988
NATIONALITY: American
Amelia is the second oldest child of the Lawson family. She was born in Old Town, Maine and raised by primarily her mother, as her father was a raging alcoholic and was often absent from the home. Despite being absent of a decent father figure, Amelia felt love from her other family members. As soon as Amelia and her brother were old enough, they took on many responsibilities to help their mother out, including raising their younger sister, Juliet - who was born five years after Amelia was brought into the world.
As a child, Amelia was fearful of her father and would try to obey him and stay out of his way as much as possible. However, as she got older, she became more rebellious and challenging, especially when Amelia witnessed her father harm her mother or siblings more often than she would have liked to remember. Despite her bravery, her father then began using her as a way to unleash his rage. As a young girl, she was no match for her fathers wrath. All she could do was turn his attention away from his siblings onto her, sacrificing herself for their safety.
From middle school onwards, Amelia took advantage of the school sports that were on offer, determined to become fit and strong enough to defend herself and her family from their father. She made attempts at a handful of sports, but found that she was most skilled at cross-country running, swimming and baseball. She excelled in all three, making her quite popular among her fellow students by the time she entered high school.
As a result of her traumatizing home life and the popularity that got to her head, Amelia became somewhat of a bully. This was a defense mechanism that came from her own insecurities about herself. When she was within the presence of her popular friends, she wasn't the compassionate, brave, guarded survivor that she was around her siblings, but instead a stuck up, attention seeking brat that seemed to be the life of the party to her peers.
Unfortunately, it took one particular traumatic experience to bring her back down to earth. At the age of seventeen Amelia was kidnapped. While attending a house party, her drink had been spiked, which knocked her unconscious...she woke up on a bed in a strangers home...she was naked. In a moment of panic, Amelia leaped off the bed and scurried to the door to in hopes of escape, only to find it locked. The only window in the room had been boarded shut, confirming her suspicions that she had been kidnapped and not only kidnapped...but raped. After she had calmed herself down she managed to find her clothes from the night before strewn upon the floor. Defeated, she dressed herself and curled up in a ball on the bed.
Amelia had been left alone in the unfamiliar bedroom for a few more hours before someone unlocked the door on the other side. A man in a mask emerged from behind the door with a sandwich and a bottle of water. "Who are you?" She asked timidly as he set the sustenance down roughly beside her. He gave her no reply before abruptly exiting the room, locking the door behind him. After he left, Amelia broke down, scolding herself for attending last night's party as she cried herself to sleep.
Over the course of a few days, Amelia felt herself going crazy being locked in the same room. The only time she saw another person was when a masked man came in to bring her three meals a day or let her out across the hall to go to the bathroom. A week of this existence went by before a man in his forties walked into the room, this time not wearing a mask. He told her that she now belonged to him and that he would be working for him, prostituting herself in order to make him money. He was a human trafficker. Her eyes filled with fear, the panic rising within her. Like a trapped animal, she dashed to the door, only to be tackled down by her captor. He forced her back down on the bed, where he took advantage of her in attempt to break her.
Knowing that she would be shipped to another city the next day, Amelia knew that she needed to try and escape at the next opportunity she got. After being hit and abused mentally by her father over the years, being raped by a stranger was the last straw for her. She became determined to escape or to go down fighting, but she refused to become a slave to her captor. Filled with rage and determination, the next time one of her captors accomplices opened the door to let her out to go to the bathroom, Amelia leaped past him, smashing one of the bedside table lamps against his head so hard, that she made him stumble to the floor. Taking this as her opportunity, Amelia bolted down the hallway, then the stairs before dashing out the front door of what appeared to be an old farm house.
Another one of her captors accomplices soon followed her, surprised by the sight of her. Competing in cross country during her schooling years had certainly paid off for it didn't take Amelia long to create a significant amount of distance between herself and the enemy. The men that had captured her may have been stronger, but she was much faster. She sped across the empty fields before taking cover in the woods where she made her way to the nearest main road, stumbling out of the foliage and hitching a ride with a married couple back to her hometown.
The men that had captured her were later arrested by the police and Amelia's name was all over the news. Her family became aware of what happened to her, but she didn't like to talk about, especially to her younger sister, who she became even more protective over, not wanting Juliet to go through a trauma like she did. She shunned her father when she first saw him after the ordeal, telling him that he was just as bad as the men who captured her and that he was dead to her. She was no longer afraid of the man who influenced her bad decisions during high school. While she was relieved to see her mother, she scolded her for remaining with her father. While she embraced her siblings desperately, not wanting to let go.
Amelia lived with her grandparents while she attended counseling and got back onto her feet as she attempted to find herself again. She went back to finish off her senior year of high school, no longer the bitchy popular girl she pretended to be before her ordeal, but a young woman who had matured greatly and had learned a few of life's lessons the hard way.
After high school, she moved to New York for college to major in psychology in hopes of helping other victims of abuse in the future. There was a time where she'd wake up from nightmares, reminders of the abuse that she had faced, but she got through it and continued on with her life, even though she was battling depression and anxiety. She visited her family during her breaks, but refused to speak to her father.
She was at college when the virus broke out and managed to escape the city of New York with a small group of college friends. Once out of the city, her friends wanted to travel to the west coast to see if there were more hopeful conditions on the other side of America. However, Amelia remained on the east coast, intending to travel north-east to her hometown in Maine to try and find her family. She did not travel alone at that point, for her boyfriend (Nathan) at the time decided to remain with her, wanting to protect her and stay by her side.
The two mostly traveled on foot, laying low and slaying the infected whenever necessary. Sadly, Nathan failed to make it to Maine after he sacrificed himself so Amelia could escape a horde of the infected, much to Amelia's dismay. The only thing that kept Amelia moving forward was the hope of her family being alive. However, when she finally made it to her hometown, her family were no longer there. Despite the nagging feeling that told her to give up, something told Amelia to keep going. So she did.
For a few weeks, Amelia survived on her own, slowly making her way south-west. She didn't know where she was heading, all she knew was that it probably wasn't a good idea to cross the border into Canada where she could potentially freeze to death. Eventually, she stumbled upon a group of fellow survivors and has been staying with them ever since, hoping for some answers and an excuse to continue living.
